Veterans Northeast Outreach Center welcomes new board members

Eagle-Tribune - 3/6/2024

Mar. 6—HAVERHILL — The Veterans Northeast Outreach Center Inc, a veteran-focused nonprofit based in Haverhill, announced the recent appointment of four new board members.

Bill Kelly, executive director of VNEOC, said these experienced and dynamic additions complement the organization's existing board members and bring a wealth and diversity of board and nonprofit experience to the team.

Individually, they each bring a unique skillset to augment the suite of VNEOC Board expertise, he said.

New board members are: Rick Bettencourt, a nationally recognized VA mortgage expert and educator, and past president of the National Association of Mortgage Brokers, a national nonprofit supporting the housing and mortgage industry; John Bachmann a nationally recognized insurance professional and published author of three industry shaping books, and Beth Laliberty, an area family law and general practice attorney and accomplished business negotiator who is also the mother and daughter of veterans.

Also joining the board is Ralph Basiliere, a Marine Corps veteran and well-known advocate for veterans and veteran causes as well as a VNEOC alumni, meaning VNEOC assisted him in his time of need and helped foster his ongoing success.

Basiliere currently serves as the Haverhill City Councilor for Ward 1, VNEOC's home Ward in Haverhill. .

Kelly said this infusion of new people brings new ideas and new energy to VNEOC's core mission of helping area veterans in need find housing and the support they earned through their service.

VNEOC serves veterans across the Greater Merrimack Valley and offers a range of services including supportive services for veterans and families (homeless or near homeless veteran support), transition in place (transitional housing to long term success), VNEOC housing (operating low-income veteran housing), a weekly food panty (addressing veteran food scarcity) and a host of activities, events and veteran support services through the main facility at 10 Reed St. (formerly St. Rita's Church).
