Lions, Jeep lovers to help ill kids

The Chronicle - 5/14/2021

May 13—HEBRON — Take the top off and raise some money for sick children — the top off your jeep, that is.

The Nutmeg Jeepers Club and Hebron Lions Club will participate in the worldwide "Go Topless Day" Saturday at the Lions Fairgrounds, 347 Gilead St./ Route 85.

The event will run from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Go Topless Day was established by Extreme Terrain, a 4x4 outfitting company, 14 years ago. For each Go Topless event held that raises at least $ 500 for charity, Extreme Terrain will contribute a matching $ 500.

The Lions Club will sell refreshments, offer raffle prizes, showcase tractor pulls and host a vendor fair in addition to the jeep show.

Admission is $15 per adult, with children admitted free of charge, and all proceeds will help campers attend the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp.

The Ashford facility, established by Paul Newman in 1988, enables children with illnesses and serious conditions to enjoy summer camp.

Donations to the facility provide camper tuition so families don't have additional financial burdens. " Tuition for these severely ill children cost approximately $ 2,500 to attend and this is paid for by the generosity of others' donations," said Hebron Lion Krystin Strumskas.

The Lions Club will match admission fees and any additional donations made by attendees up to $ 2,500.

For more information, email Strumskas at krystin@ hebronharvestfair. org. To purchase tickets or donate, visit the Lions website at www.hebronharvestfair.org.
