South Bend Tribune - 2/24/2020

Feb. 24--WARSAW -- The Kosciusko County Coroner's office has ruled the death of 12-year-old Ayden Adee a suicide.

Adee was reported missing Thursday and a statewide Silver Alert was issued.

Police found his body around noon on Friday in a wooded area near the intersection of CR 350 E and CR 500 S, according to a news release, following a search that used dogs and drones. Adee was believed to have been in possession of a handgun, police said.

Adee died as a result of self inflicted injuries coroner Anthony Ciriello said in a release Saturday.

Lutheran EMS, the Nappanee Police Department, Indiana Conservation Officers and multiple fire departments assisted in the search, according to county police.

Adee was a student at Whitko Community Schools and the corporation posted a statement to its Facebook page Saturday.

"As your students return to school on Monday, we will have mental health professionals, counselors and ministerial staff from within the community ready to support students and staff during this time of tragedy," it says. "As we grieve together, let's lean on one another and depend on each other for support."
