Vintage train rides offered at a discount for veterans

Oct. 26--The Buffalo, Cattaraugus & Jamestown Scenic Railway will honor veterans and first responders with a 50% discount on train tickets for trips at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.Nov. 9 and 10.

The train, pulled by a vintage 1950s-era diesel locomotive, leaves the Erie Railroad Depot, 4 Scott St., Hamburg, for a 20-mile round trip to North Collins.

Passengers will travel in vintage railroad equipment that includes two late 1920s-era passenger cars that once shuttled commuters in New York City on the Long Island Railroad. An open-air car will be available for those who want to photograph the sights along the way.

Discounted tickets for the four trips are $10 for veterans, active military, auxiliary members and first responders. Other tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children, available online at BCJRailroad.com or at Artcraft Toy Trains.
