Public input sought on mental health plan

Mountain Democrat - 11/12/2017

The Behavioral Health Division of the El Dorado County Health and Human Services Agency invites the public to provide input on the county's Mental Health Services Act three-year plan annual update for fiscal year 2018-19. Community members can provide input by email, online survey or at an upcoming community meeting. Community meetings to receive input for the MHSA plan are scheduled as follows:

Tuesday, Nov. 7, at 6 p.m. at El Dorado County Government Office, 330 Fair Lane in Meeting Room C, in Placerville; hosted by NAMI El Dorado.

Tuesday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m. at the El Dorado Hills Library, 7455 Silva Valley Road, El Dorado Hills; hosted by EDC Behavioral Health.

Tuesday, Nov. 21, at 6 p.m. at Green Valley Church, 3500 Missouri Flat Road in Room 306, in Placerville; hosted by EDC Behavioral Health.

Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 11 a.m. at the Cameron Park Library, 2500 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park; hosted by EDC Behavioral Health.

Tuesday, Nov. 28, at 5 p.m. at The Hut, 6540 Wentworth Springs Road in Georgetown; hosted by Drug Free Divide.

California voters passed MHSA (Proposition 63) in November 2004; the law was enacted Jan. 1, 2005. MHSA places a 1 percent tax on personal incomes more than $1 million. Counties receive funds through the state with the goal of transforming the public mental health system into one that is consumer and family driven, recovery oriented, accessible and culturally competent.
